what can you say?

apparently, i'm doing all my blogging for the week, in a day.

i got an email from a friend saying to call him.  without going into blow by blow details, the words embezzelment and suicide came up.  i was speechless.  i'm sure my friend is tired of the speechlessness that is attacking him like the plague right now.  i had no idea what to say.  i probably went into the speech that everyone so far has given him.  that even though something awful happened, he should feel blessed with his new family and support system.  that even though he feels fine right now, he may not later.  that he is in shock and to take care of himself and family.  that someone else's actions don't define him.

but other than that, what can you say?

secondly, i received some information today from a friend whose son is in the middle east, on his 3rd deployment there.  he received news that they could have two beers, in celebration of something.  he then got news that because most of the people in his control were under age, that they couldn't partake in this celebration.  he, instead of jumping at the chance to have the beer, joined with his "team" and didn't have the beer.  oh, by the way, it is 140 degrees there.  what a guy.  i mean really....what a guy.
