i have a great post in me....i swear....but first this...

i'm bursting at the seams getting ready to post my pictures from this weekend.  i mean, it's really going to be a mish-mash of  fun stuff.  but first, i must do this....

having a lot of family around is a great thing.  it really is.  if you don't already know, my family consists of a set of brother and a pair of sisters (my grandparents and great aunt and uncle), that married each other.  confusing, huh?  but not incestuous, i promise.  they had a lot of kids (my dad's generation), and those people then had a lot of kids.  that's a lot of family, in case you didn't know, and even more so, because we all live around each other.  it meant we had lots of cousins to play with, which was awesome....

when we were little, all the families did everything together.  every holiday, every birthday....everything.  we had built in friends, because there was always a cousin around.

things have changed though.  i don't know why, but it has.  it is not a good thing, in my opinion, and i know, in a lot of other cousin's opinions.  it has not necessarily branched off into two separate families, but it's just divided, if you know what i mean.  for a girl that grew up with three cousins next door, whose house i walked into without knocking and whose house i felt comfortable in no matter what....this is a big deal.

this can feel very isolating sometimes, and i hate it.  for a person who feels that they are on their own sometimes, it is ten times harder to feel that feeling, when you know that there are plenty of relatives around.

i know, this is vague, but it had to be, and i just wanted to get it out there.

I have a double cousin. Her mama (my mother's sister) was married to my daddy's brother. We share the same set of grandparents. Your situation (grandparents/greataunt/uncle) sounds similar.

Even with that much family relation, i'm amazed at how different physically, emotionally, & personally she is to my sisters & myself.

It is always sad when family begins to drift from one another. I don't know your situation, but i do know the feeling of isolation. (Not exactly the same, of course. Your family & situation is different. I'm just saying i understand the loneliness of isolation.)

Hope it gets better, or that it get's "fixed" or you're able to come to peace with it.

I wish that I lived anywhere close to family growing up. All of my parent's siblings lived a plane flight away and one even lived in Japan for a while. Every Christmas we do see my dad's sister and her stepchildren. I am probably the closest to them. Facebook has helped a lot too. But still.

Why not plan some event to get everyone together?

i would love for a thing for everyone to get together. we will all be together at a wedding in sept., but it's more the politics of certain events that keep us apart, I think. it's a precarious situation being so close. in fact we are so close that some even work together. it's just sticky and it never has been. i've tried to be a part and let people know when something was going on with me, such as my health stuff earlier last year....because i know, it stinks to hear information from other people about your family before you hear it from them.

a little something about me and the life i choose to live!
