week two shopping

i did week two shopping today and have the receipt, so thought i'd tell you about it:

i bought:
pasta, two containers of rice dream milk, oatmeal, prego meat sauce, two cans of vegetable soup, two cans of corn, eggs, broccoli, pie shells, potatoes, and bananas for: $22.00

tonight, we used the other part of the hamburger bought last week, t had spaghetti with meat sauce, i just had a little pasta...not too hungry.

for the rest of the week, we have a ham that is defrosting in the fridge, that will go with potatoes and broccoli, there is also a turkey breast defrosting.  i don't know what we'll do with it all.  t will have cereal, i will have a packet of oatmeal in the a.m.'s.  for lunches, he will have these chicken corn dogs that he loves...the bread from the ham sandwiches must have had milk in them, so that won't work.

with the soup, we're planning on using it, with rotini pasta and corn, to stretch it out quite a ways.  this will make a heartier soup and we'll be able to use it more than one night.  Friday and saturday are nights out for dinner, as t's dad will be in town.

THis project of yours really had me thinking. So when I went to the Food Co-op last night, I was pretty excited to buy things just for this week. We'll see how it goes.

i just think it's a good way to save...and who doesn't need to save? i thought, "how pissed will i be if 10 years down the road, i really NEED something, and look back and realize we wasted money on some things that may temporarily make us feel better" granted, we are not going to sacrifice our social life for it...if friends want to go out, we'll go out...but it's just amazing how much you can save.

a little something about me and the life i choose to live!
