the latest thing....for me
i have heard about bubble tea for about a year now. it has been served at some places i've gone to regularly, but i just couldn't get myself to do it. something about having to have a gigantic, enormous straw to suck up gelatanous masses into your mouth...ewww.
i ordered one in MN but i don't know exactly what happened. the guys took 5 minutes to even help me, and then, that paired with my confusion over what to order, gave me this gross tasting drink that cost $5 and then didn't have the tapioca in it.
i went to this movie theater that i frequent and just ordered the tea. i acted like i was a boba tea whore. like i really knew what i was doing...and i got the real thing. i don't think that i even got out of the car before i tried it.
it was very, very good, very addictive, and i can see what a big deal it is and why it is that. you may ask why? i don't know. the theory of it is really quite gross. you shouldn't have to chew things while you are drinking. it is not, in any way, something you should have on a first date. you may choke, or worse, have black tapioca chains hanging down your chin. (not that that happened to me, but i'm just sayin').

I tried it once, & that was enough for me. But then i'm the kid that hated gum drops & jelly beans (tho i have quite a sweet tooth) & the tapioca was just too gross for me.
They do make it without the tapioca & i have had a peach one that is divine! However, since i've been cutting back on sugar i find it too sweet. -

I love bubble tea. And you're right - it doesn't seem right that you have to work so hard at drinking ... but, seriously, it's worth it! You're making me ache for some tapioca and it's only 8:30AM. Sigh.
